CSK got relief: MS Dhoni returned to training, will he face Punjab Kings match?

In the first match against Rajasthan Royals, CSK had to face defeat by 8 wickets. Dhoni did not play in that match due to shin (calf) injury. Initially it was believed that this injury would keep him away from the field for about two weeks, but now he has been seen in the training camp earlier than expected.

Dhoni started practicing
In the practice session held before the match against Punjab Kings in Chennai, Dhoni batted in the nets and also did light fitness exercises. However, he did not train fully with the team. The special thing was that he maintained distance from the practice of wicket-keeping, due to which there was doubt about his playing.

Doubts about Dhoni’s wicketkeeping
During practice, Dhoni focused more on range-hitting and tried to gradually gain match fitness. But staying away from wicketkeeping drills indicates that the team management does not want to take any risks. At present, Sanju Samson was seen handling the responsibility of wicketkeeping during practice.

CSK lost in the first match
This match is very important for CSK, because the team is looking for its first win of the season. In such a situation, Dhoni’s presence can boost the morale of the team, but the team seems to be cautious about his fitness. The franchise does not want to take any decision in haste, so that Dhoni can remain completely fit in the upcoming matches.

Meanwhile, another player of the team, Dewald Brevis, was also seen in training after injury. However, he too is not completely fit and was seen working only with light running and physio.

Overall, Dhoni’s return to training has definitely brought relief to CSK, but the decision to play him against Punjab Kings may be postponed till the last moment. The focus of the team management is clear to prepare for the long race without compromising the fitness of the players.
