Chennai Super Kings Coach Stephen Fleming Exit: Chennai Super Kings and head coach Stephen Fleming have decided to leave the franchise after 18 years. This decision of Stephen Fleming, who has been with Chennai Super Kings for a long time, has come as a big shock to CSK fans. His departure was officially announced on the official X account of Chennai Super Kings.

The franchise posted on CSK’s official X account thanking him for his journey and companionship. He wrote in his post, Chennai Super Kings and Head Coach Stephen Fleming have decided to part ways by mutual consent. Together we have experienced one of the most successful and longest-lasting partnerships in IPL history. The legacy you have created will continue to inspire us. With the utmost respect and gratitude, thank you, Stephen.”

This decision was taken after talks between Stephen Fleming and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) management. This marked the end of a long-standing relationship, which began during the first season of the IPL in 2008. At that time, former New Zealand captain Fleming was associated with CSK as a player. The next year, i.e. in 2009, he took over the responsibility of the head coach of the team and led the team for a long time.

Many records were made under the leadership of Fleming

During his tenure, Fleming led one of the most successful eras of franchise cricket. Under his supervision, CSK won the IPL title 5 times and also won the Champions League T20 trophy twice. Apart from this, the team also made a record of reaching the IPL playoffs 12 times and playing the finals 10 times.

Announcing the decision, CSK owner Rupa Gurunath praised Fleming’s contribution to the franchise for almost two decades. He said, ‘Stephen Fleming has been the life of our coaching unit for almost the entire journey of this franchise. For nearly two decades, he has helped shape our identity, vision and pursuit of excellence. On behalf of the Super Kings franchise, we thank him very much for his unwavering commitment, passion and leadership. Even though our time together on the field is coming to an end, he will always remain an important part of the team’s legacy.”

Set the culture of the franchise

Chennai Super Kings managing director Kasi Viswanathan said Fleming’s impact went far beyond the results on the field. He credited him for establishing the culture that has become the identity of the franchise. Kashi said, ‘From the beginning of this journey, Stephen Fleming helped define not only the way we play but also what we wanted to be as a franchise. Time spent with CSK was very special

Speaking on his departure, Fleming described his time with CSK as the most important part of his coaching career and thanked the franchise for the success they achieved together over almost two decades. Fleming said, ’18 years is a long time in the world of sports, and I just leave here with gratitude. My time with Chennai Super Kings has been the most special experience of my coaching career. I am proud of what we have achieved. Together we achieved memorable victories, faced difficult moments and created memories that will stay with me forever. CSK will always be close to my heart, and I will continue to cheer for the team in the years to come.”
