CSK’s Aman Khan Sets Unwanted List A Record Ahead of IPL 2026

Cricket has an equalizing effect that is remarkable. At one time, we think that the saying would apply to single players only, but then a few cases from the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 have shown that it happens for franchises too. Two CSK players, who were already members of their state teams, were seen at the two extremes of a skill, and they set the same record.

This may seem confusing, but let us simplify it. It was Ramakrishna Ghosh who came to the forefront in the game between Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh; he took an impressive seven-wicket haul in the first innings. The team however lost the game, and Ghosh, the 28-year-old all-rounder was the reason. He took his seven wickets in 9.4 overs, giving away 42 runs only in the match.

At the other end of the spectrum was another CSK player, Aman Khan. The Puducherry captain bowled 10 overs against Jharkhand and gave away 123 runs, which is now the record for the most runs conceded in a men’s List A match. This was the other extreme for the Men in Yellow, and the two sides’ performances balanced each other out.

How the CSK Team Will Look Like for IPL 2026

The Men in Yellow have been aiming for a total overhaul for the past two years, and their strategy at the IPL 2026 auction was very clear through that. The focus on bringing in youth to the squad who can eventually take the team to new heights has never been more, and the franchise has already taken steps along that line.

With the signing of Ramakrishna Ghosh, who is a viable option in all aspects of the game, the management of CSK has their eyes fixed on Aman Khan and they are willing to spend a whopping INR 40 Lakhs on him. However, it looks like both these players will have to be patient until their turn comes to play for the team. Meanwhile, with CSK management offering thrilling chances to the youngsters, it might be the time for someone like Ramakrishna Ghosh.

After the IPL 2026 auction and the trade off between Sanju Samson and Jadeja & Curran, the team looks quite strong. The batting order seems more than set, the team is full of young talents and they are keen to mold them for the future. Despite this, Prashant Veer is a likely contender for the all-rounder position, and thus Aman Khan might face competition for a spot in the squad.

Moreover, a player like Shivam Dube also fills the same role as Aman Khan would be looking for. The management, thus, has to make some difficult decisions, which will be made in collaboration with the captain. Nevertheless, Aman Khan does not appear to be a guaranteed starter for CSK’s playing XI.
