CSK’s star bowler out before IPL 2026, Rajasthan may also get a big blow

IPL 2026 Update: Even before the start of IPL 2026, many teams have suffered major setbacks. Chennai Super Kings fast bowler Nathan Ellis has been ruled out of the entire season due to hamstring injury. The 31-year-old Ellis was bought by the franchise for Rs 2 crore in the 2025 mega auction. Before this, he has played for Punjab Kings for four seasons and has taken 19 wickets in 17 matches in IPL. At present, CSK has not taken any decision regarding his replacement.

Rajasthan Royals have also suffered a big blow. The team’s star all-rounder Sam Curran may be out of the entire season due to groin injury. 27 year old Karan was going to play for Rajasthan for the first time this time, but due to injury he is finding it difficult to play. The franchise has not yet announced his replacement.
Let us tell you that Sam Curran was included in the team by Rajasthan through trade from Chennai in November last year. In this big trade, Ravindra Jadeja also went to Rajasthan, while wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson was added by Chennai.

Meanwhile, New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson will miss the initial matches of IPL. Ferguson, who recently became a father, has decided to take a break of a few weeks, giving priority to his family. Ferguson said before the third T20 match against South Africa in Auckland that he would take a break of a few weeks. Then he can join Punjab Kings in the second phase of IPL. In his absence, Punjab Kings can give a chance to Australian fast bowler Ben Dwarshuis. The team also has options like Arshdeep Singh, Marco Janson, Xavier Bartlett, Yash Thakur, Visakh Vijayakumar and Marcus Stoinis.

IPL 2026 will start on March 28 with the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Meanwhile, the teams of Chennai, captained by Rituraj Gaikwad, and Rajasthan, led by Riyan Parag, will face each other in Guwahati on March 30.
