The meeting of the Extended Working Committee under the leadership of Party President Mallikarjun Kharge was held at the same place where Mahatma Gandhi was elected party president in the 1924 Congress session. Congress organized a working committee meeting to mark 100 years of that historic day. The party has named the working committee (CWC) meeting as 'Nav Satyagraha Meeting'.

Sonia said in the letter that 'exactly 100 years ago the 39th session of the Indian National Congress was held at this very place. Therefore, it is appropriate that you have gathered in Mahatma Gandhi City. At that time Mahatma Gandhi becoming the Congress President was an important turning point for our party and the freedom movement. This was a transformative milestone in the history of our country. He said, today we rededicate ourselves to preserving and promoting the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi. He has been and will continue to be our main source of inspiration. Mahatma Gandhi was the man who prepared and guided all our notable leaders of that generation.

Sonia alleged that Bapu's legacy is under threat from the people in power in New Delhi and the ideologies and organizations that nurture them. The former Congress president claimed that 'these organizations never fought for our freedom. He bitterly opposed Mahatma Gandhi. He created a toxic environment, which led to his murder. They glorify Bapu's murderer.

He alleged that Gandhian institutions were under attack at various places across the country. Sonia said that therefore it is also appropriate that this meeting be called 'Nav Satyagraha Meeting'. It is now our sacred duty to reiterate our resolve to confront these forces with all our might and unwavering determination. He said, 'I am confident that the issue of further strengthening our organization to face the challenges facing us will also be raised today. Sonia Gandhi called that 'let us individually and collectively from this meeting move forward with a fresh spirit in our resolve to face the many challenges facing our party.
