CWG 2026: Srihari Nataraj reaches semi-finals of 50m backstroke, Ravi Budigna-Ali Imam in the final of para swimming
Glasgow. India’s star swimmer Srihari Nataraj has made it to the semi-finals of the men’s 50 meter backstroke event after performing brilliantly in the swimming competition of the Commonwealth Games. He secured a place in the last 16 by clocking 25.52 seconds in the heats.
Srihari recorded the 14th fastest time among the overall qualifiers. Now he will present his challenge in the medal race in the semi-finals to be held on Friday. The eyes of Indian sports fans are now fixed on his performance.
At the same time, there was good news for India in para swimming also. Ravi Veera Venkata Budigana and Ali Imam have entered the finals of the men’s S13 100m freestyle event.
Ravi Budigna clocked 57.10 seconds in the heats to finish third in his heat and secure his ticket to the finals. Ali Imam, on the other hand, qualified for the final by recording a time of 1 minute 05.32 seconds.
This performance of Indian swimmers has further strengthened the country’s medal hopes in the Commonwealth Games. Now all eyes will be on the semi-final and final matches, where Indian players will enter with the intention of winning medals.
