Nowadays cyber criminals are not hesitating to do anything. Their morale is so high that now they are not failing to target not only common people but also special people. It has become common for cyber thugs to use fake social media accounts to dupe people and extort money from them.
After committing fraud in the name of celebrities and high ranking officers, this fraud has now reached a new level. Now a case of cyber criminals allegedly creating a fake Facebook account of President Draupadi Murmu to defraud people has come to light. Although Ranchi Police has started investigating the matter, no FIR has been registered yet.

According to media reports, Facebook user Mantu Soni, a resident of Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, recently received a friend request from an account which had the President's profile picture along with other information.
Mantu told, after this he received a message from the account with the photo of the 'President', “Jai Hind, how are you?”. Then the scammer behind the profile said, “I rarely use Facebook, send me your WhatsApp number”.
Mantu sent his number. A few hours later, a message came on Facebook Messenger, which read, “We have saved your number and sent you our WhatsApp code, which has gone to your WhatsApp. Please send us the code quickly; This is a 6 digit code.”

At this, he felt that something was wrong. Mantu then shared its details on 'X' tagging Rashtrapati Bhavan, Jharkhand Police and others. Ranchi Police immediately took cognizance and asked for details of the Facebook post. Police have started investigating the matter.
SSP Ranchi Chandan Sinha said that they are investigating the matter. “We have asked the agencies to look into all the details of this case and conduct a thorough investigation,” he said.
