Cyclone Dana Alert: Announcement of evacuating 3.5 lakh people to safe place, CM Mamata Banerjee made this special appeal to the people

Kolkata : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday, October 24 has shown seriousness about the situation of cyclone 'Dana'. He said that the administration has identified 3,56,941 people living in low-lying areas of the state, who will be shifted to safer places. CM Banerjee has appealed to the citizens to take precautionary measures and cooperate with the administration.

The Chief Minister said that at present 2,43,374 people have taken shelter in relief camps. She told reporters that she would stay at the state secretariat throughout Thursday night and monitor the situation. The Chief Secretary and Home Secretary will also keep an eye on the situation from their respective places and will contact you again on Friday morning.

Mamta Banerjee appealed to the people not to spread rumors in this situation and avoid panic. He said that 24×7 helplines and related phone numbers have been started for monitoring and information sharing. Apart from this, all educational institutions have been closed keeping in mind the safety of the students.

Banerjee said, “I expect cooperation from all of you. Please be alert. If the police or administration asks you to vacate a place, follow their advice. Please do not go into the water and avoid fishing right now.”

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that cyclone 'Dana' may make landfall between Bhitarkanika National Park and Dhamra port in Odisha early on Friday. During this period, the maximum wind speed is likely to be around 120 kilometers per hour. There has also been a warning of heavy rain in Odisha and West Bengal due to the cyclone.

Due to these preparations of the state government, the state government has given priority to the safety of the citizens by taking people to safe places and through camps created as part of relief measures. Considering the situation before this, this step of Mamata Banerjee is considered important.
