Kolkata : A senior official of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has informed that in view of the threat of Cyclone Dana at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport on Thursday, the country took this decision in view of the warning of possible strong winds and heavy rainfall in the coastal region of West Bengal. Has been taken.

Airport Director Pravat Ranjan Beuria said that Indigo's Amritsar-Kolkata flight was the last flight to land here on Thursday evening, which landed at 6:11 pm. At the same time, the last flight to depart was Indigo's Kolkata-Guwahati flight, which took off at 7 pm.

However, it took some time to suspend flight operations as the airport received a bomb threat, which later proved to be false. According to AAI officials, a total of 309 flights will be affected during this period. Flights were stopped from 6 pm on Thursday and there are plans to restart them from 9 am on Friday.

Beuria said that after the last flight, all the entry and exit gates of the terminal building have been sealed. Airlines have worked with airport authorities to implement security procedures to keep planes safe.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), cyclone 'Dana' is likely to hit the coast between Bhitarkanika National Park and Dhamra port in neighboring Odisha on Friday morning. During this period, the maximum speed of the storm is expected to be 120 kilometers per hour. Considering the weather conditions in West Bengal, the administration has given priority to safety measures. Citizens have been appealed to remain alert and pay attention to weather updates.
