Cyclone Dana Alert: Rain occurred in many parts of Jharkhand, CM Soren made this appeal to the people

Ranchi: Due to the impact of cyclonic storm 'Dana', there has been rain in some parts of Jharkhand on Friday, October 25. West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan and East Singhbhum districts in Jharkhand's Kolhan region have been receiving light to moderate rain since Thursday night, while other parts of the state are experiencing cloudy sky with intermittent drizzle.

In such a situation, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that he is continuously monitoring the cyclone system for the last 24 hours. CM Soren posted on social media platform X and wrote – I am taking information on this issue every hour. Several precautionary measures are being taken mainly in East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts. According to sources, Cyclone Dana is expected to weaken in a few hours. CM Soren wrote in his ex post that all the people are appealed to strictly follow the instructions of the administration.

Election campaign activities have been affected in many parts of Jharkhand due to bad weather. According to a release, the Chief Minister's election rally scheduled in Bokaro on Friday was canceled due to bad weather. Ranchi Meteorological Center officials said that the impact of the weather system seems to be weakening over Jharkhand.

Chances of heavy to very heavy rain

Abhishek Anand, in-charge of Ranchi Meteorological Center, said that one or two districts of Kolhan region may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on Friday, while some districts of Central Jharkhand including Ranchi may receive moderate rain. He said that the intensity of rain will reduce further on Saturday. Let us inform that last Thursday, Orange Alert was issued by the Meteorological Department in Kolhan area for Friday i.e. 25th October.

In view of the bad weather, Jharkhand School Education and Literacy Development Department had last Thursday directed to close all the schools in Kolhan area on Friday, October 25. According to a notice issued by the department, there is a possibility of heavy rain and strong wind due to the impact of cyclonic storm Dana. In the light of the alert issued by the Meteorological Centre, Ranchi, all categories of government, non-government, aided, unaided and private schools running in West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts under Kolhan division will remain closed on October 25.

Six teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed in Jamshedpur and Chaibasa, while two teams have been kept ready in Ranchi to deal with any emergency. According to the Meteorological Centre, the severe cyclonic storm Dana moved towards north-west at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour and weakened into a cyclonic storm in the northern coastal region of Odisha. The process of the cyclone reaching the neighboring state of Odisha has been completed. The weather department said it is likely to move in a north-westerly direction towards North Odisha during the next six hours and gradually weaken into a deep depression.
