Cyclone Dana: Before Cyclone Dana, storm in Bengal, 16 fishermen missing due to sinking of 3 boats

Kolkata. Even before the arrival of Cyclone Dana, 16 fishermen have gone missing after three boats sank due to the storm in Shamsherganj and Farakka areas of Bengal. The Disaster Management Team (NDRF) is searching for them. Along with the group of fishermen, many children aged 10 to 12 years were also in the boats. Despite warnings from the administration, they had gone out to fish.

Bengal on high alert regarding 'Dana', Kolkata airport closed for 15 hours

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will monitor the situation from the state secretariat throughout the night. As a precautionary measure, Kolkata Airport has been closed for 15 hours. Also, about 400 trains have been cancelled. Ferry services have been suspended. Thousands of people have been evacuated from coastal areas and sent to government shelters.

Flight service stopped from Biju Patnaik International Airport

In view of the outbreak of Cyclone Dana over the East-Central Bay of Bengal and North Andaman Sea, air services have been closed from Bhubaneswar Biju Patnaik International Airport. Bhubaneswar Airport Director Prasanna Pradhan has said that flight operations will remain closed from 5 pm on Thursday to 9 am on Friday. It will be reviewed again whether the flight will take off on Friday morning.

Railways released helpline numbers

The Railway Department is in full alert mode regarding Cyclone Dana. Nine warrooms have been set up along the east coast to restore train services immediately after the cyclone. Help desks have been opened at all important stations. More than 200 trains have been canceled on both the Up and Down lines for three days from today. That means, from today till October 25, 200 trains have been cancelled. So 89261-00356 for Puri, 8926-100215 for Bhubaneswar, 81143-82359 for Cuttack, 81143-88302 for Jajpur Kendujhar Road, 8114 for Bhadrak. 3823301 help Line number has been issued.

A total of 108,479 people were brought to temporary camps in Balasore district today and given mid-day meal. Similarly, a total of 16 platoons of police force have been deployed, and 147 medical teams have been deployed. Along with this, 24 mobile health teams have also been deployed and 12 veterinary teams have also been deployed.

Baleshwar District Magistrate Mayur Suryavanshi said that the district administration is fully prepared to deal with any untoward situation and has appealed to the people to stay in their homes during the storm's landfall or when it hits the coast. Stay inside and don't go out.
