IMD Cyclone DANA Alert: The weather is changing rapidly in the country. While cold has taken hold in North India, the rainy season continues in South India. A cyclonic circulation lies over southwest and west central Bay of Bengal off north Tamil Nadu coast, extending up to mid-tropospheric levels. Along with this, a cyclonic circulation has also formed over the central Andaman Sea. A fresh low pressure area is likely to form over central Bay of Bengal on October 21, which may bring heavy to very heavy rainfall over southern Peninsular India. Andaman and Nicobar Islands will be cloudy on October 20-21 and Odisha and West Bengal on October 24-25.

The effect of the cyclone will be seen in many states of the country. IMD has issued orange and red alert. Heavy to very heavy rain will occur over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry on 20-21 and 24, North Interior Karnataka on 20-22, South Interior Karnataka on 20-23, Kerala from 20 to 24 October. Andhra Pradesh will remain cloudy during October 20, 23 and 24. There may be rain in Goa, Gujarat on Sunday, while it will be cloudy and hailstorm in Maharashtra.

Winds will blow at a speed of 55 kilometers

The Indian Meteorological Department has advised fishermen not to go near the coast. Meanwhile, wind speed of 35 km per hour to 45 km per hour is expected in Andaman Sea on October 20-21, which can increase up to 55 km per hour. Heavy rains can cause waterlogging on roads, disrupting traffic.

Cyclone Dana can wake up
