Employees who have been waiting for dearness allowance for a long time have full hope of getting big financial relief from the month of July. This new dearness allowance, which will increase from July, will be deposited in the accounts of the employees only as per the rules of the 7th Pay Commission. In the future, when the 8th Pay Commission will be fully implemented, a new salary structure will be formed. Whatever difference there is after its implementation, it will be given to the employees as arrears. This big decision of the government is going to be very helpful and wonderful for the employees amidst rising inflation.
Clear picture from May figures
According to the recent data released by the Labor Bureau, the consumer price index for May 2026 has reached 150.8. Earlier in the month of April, this index was recorded at 149.9, which is continuously increasing very fast. On the basis of these concrete figures, there is a strong estimate of 3 percent increase in dearness allowance from July 2026. Now all the employees are eagerly waiting for the final figures for the month of June 2026.
How will the arrears be paid?
According to employee organizations and media reports, the 8th Pay Commission may be officially implemented by the end of 2027. However, its effective date will be considered from January 1, 2026, due to which the employees will get arrears of 18 to 24 months. After the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission, the difference between the DA of July 2026 and the new DA will be given as arrears. With this, the huge pending amount of the employees will easily come directly into their bank accounts.
When will DA increase be announced?
Dearness allowance of central employees is considered fully effective mainly from 1st January and 1st July every year. However, its official announcement by the government is usually always made prominently only after a few months. It is expected that this time the official announcement of dearness allowance for July 2026 will be made around October or Diwali. This huge amount increased after the announcement will be given to the employees from the date of implementation.
What was the increase last time?
The Central Government had earlier approved a huge increase of 2 percent in dearness allowance to be implemented from January 1, 2026. After this big and important increase, the total dearness allowance of the employees increased from 58 percent to 60 percent. This wonderful decision was successfully given its final and official approval by the Union Cabinet on 18th April. This provided huge financial relief to more than 1 crore government employees and pensioners of the country.
