DA Hike Delay: Waiting for DA before the 8th Pay Commission meeting, know the whole truth
DA Hike Delay: The employees working in the Central Government have not yet received the Dearness Allowance (DA) for April 2026. Even after the end of the month, no official announcement has come in this regard, due to which an atmosphere of anxiety has been created among the government employees.
According to the Finance Ministry, after the implementation of the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission, there has never been such a delay in the announcement of dearness allowance. This delay is creating an unusual and stressful situation for the employees.
Drafting committee meeting proposed
According to the information so far, the main reason for this delay is being attributed to the processes related to the 8th Pay Commission. A meeting of the Drafting Committee of the National Council (Joint Consultative Machinery) is proposed on 13 April 2026. In this meeting the final proposal to be sent to the 8th Pay Commission will be discussed. It is believed that the Commission is waiting for the results of this meeting and only after that the new rates of dearness allowance will be announced.
Government proposes DA increase…
If we look at the history, last year, the government had proposed DA increase in 2025 on March 28 and its official order was issued on April 2. Dearness allowance in 2024 was also announced on April 3. During the Covid pandemic, the government kept DA stable at 17% between 2019 and 2021, for which the order was issued on 23 April 2020.
important part of monthly income
This delay is a matter of concern for the employees because dearness allowance is an important part of their monthly income and not receiving it on time affects the financial planning. However, the Finance Ministry has clarified that the announcement will be made soon and payment of pending allowances to employees will not be left behind.
There is hope among the employees that after the 8th Pay Commission meeting, the government will soon issue an order for DA increase, so that their allowance for the month of April can be given on time.
