Dacoit Box Office Day 1: After a long wait and a lot of excitement, finally the film ‘Dacoit’ (Dacoit) has been released. Adivi Shesh, Mrunal Thakur and Anurag Kashyap are in lead roles in this film. But the film’s earnings on the first day of release were not as per expectations. The film was initially scheduled to release on March 19, but was postponed to avoid a direct clash at the box office with director Aditya Dhar’s film ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’. Even after four weeks, when ‘Dacait’ was released, its start was very slow.
According to initial estimates from trade analysis company Sacnilk, ‘Dacait’ earned Rs 6.5 crore across India on its first day. On the other hand, Ranveer Singh’s film ‘Dhurandhar 2’ which is now running in its fourth week, earned Rs 5.23 crore on the first day. That means ‘Dhurandhar 2’ earned a little more than ‘Dacait’, even though it was not a new film. After the low opening of the first day, now the entire trust of the film rests on the weekend (Saturday-Sunday) earnings. If the weekend is good then the film can pick up its pace, otherwise it can be difficult.

Apart from India, ‘Dacoit’ has earned Rs 6 crore in foreign countries also. In this way, the total global collection (India + Foreign) of the film has reached Rs 13.57 crore on the first day. If we talk about comparison with other films, the beginning of ‘Dacait’ was a bit weak compared to some other films released recently. For example, ‘Anaganaga Oka Raju’ had earned Rs 5.5 crore on the first day. Hindi film ‘Ikkis’ had an opening of Rs 7 crore on the first day. ‘Dacait’ has started with a lesser opening than these two, hence now the film will have to increase its earnings rapidly in the next few days.

The director of the film ‘Dacait’ is debutant Shenil Dev. Adivi Shesh is playing the role of a police officer in the film. The story mainly revolves around two former lovers, who are forced to commit many big crimes together. Apart from Mrunal Thakur, Anurag Kashyap, actors like Prakash Raj, Zain Marie Khan, Kamakshi Bhaskarla, Atul Kulkarni also play important roles in the film.
Why was the release date postponed?
The film was originally planned to release on 19 March, which was around Ugadi. Releases during this festival are good in South India. But the release was postponed due to lack of proper promotion and fear of huge clash at the box office. Adivi Shesh himself told in the trailer launch event that it is not right to go into a direct fight with a big film like ‘Dhurandhar 2’. So he waited until better screens, good show timings and correct theater placements were finalized with the distributors. Ultimately the film was released on 10 April. Adivi Shesh did not seem worried at all about the success of Ranveer Singh’s film ‘Dhurandhar 2’. He said that this film is a big hit and will remain dominant for the next 3-4 months. He also said that there is a lot of space for different types of films at the box office. All the films can run together.
