Dahi Vada Recipe: Dahi Vada is a popular Indian snack, which is especially made during festivals and special occasions. It is prepared with soft urad dal vadas, cold curd, sweet-sour chutney and spices. Its taste is very delicious and cooling.
Ingredients
- Urad dal – 1 cup (soaked for 6-7 hours)
- Ginger – 1 small piece
- Green chilli – 1-2
- salt to taste
- Oil – for frying
- Curd – 2 cups (cooled and whipped)
- Sugar – 2-3 spoons
- salt to taste
- sweet tamarind chutney
- green chutney
- chilli powder
- roasted cumin powder
- Spice
- coriander leaves
Preparation Steps
- Wash the urad dal thoroughly and soak it for 6-7 hours, then drain the water and grind it in the mixer with ginger and green chillies, keep the batter slightly puffed and smooth.
- Heat oil in a pan, make small vadas with your hands and fry them on medium flame till they turn golden brown.
- Soak the fried vadas in lukewarm water for 10-15 minutes, then press gently to remove excess water.
- Beat the curd well, add salt and sugar to it so that the taste becomes balanced.
- Place the vadas in a plate, pour curd on top, then garnish with tamarind chutney, green chutney, spices and coriander.
Tips For Perfect Dahi Vada Recipe
- Beat the batter well so that the vadas become soft.
- The oil should not be too hot.
- After frying the vadas, add them to water.
- Curd should be cold and fresh.
