Dananeer Mobeen calls Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Devdas’ overrated

Dananeer Mobeen recently bagged backlash after she called Shah Rukh Khan’s Devdas ‘overrated.’

The 24-year-old actress, who rose to fame after her Pawri ho rahi hai viral video, spoke about Bollywood’s 2002 classic.

In her exclusive conversation with Mashion Pakistanthe Sinf-e-Aahan star made a negative remark about Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial.

During the short chit-chat session, she said, “Devdas is so overrated. What is the story? Guys, can somebody break it down? Does it make any sense? The guy is an alcoholic, there is a woman who has no self-respect, there is a shameless dad, there is another woman who is forced upon another man, there is another man who is forced upon a woman. What is happening? Why is it a classic? Why is everything going gaga over it?”

Meanwhile, she later heaped praise on the production design and larger-than-life visuals.

Speaking to the outlet, she added, “Yes, I get the grandeur, the jewellery, the dresses, the vibe, and the grand sets, but sorry, there is no story in it.”

Fans couldn’t contain their anger after Dananeer’s remark about Devdasflooding the internet with negative messages.

One Bollywood fan wrote, “Said the one who was playing the role of a clueless girl running after her boss.”

Another added, “When you don’t know what art and literature really is, you can say something like this. Devdas is a marvel of Bollywood and South Asian cinema.”

A third brought her My Lyari into discussion and penned, “After giving a historical flop, she is questioning Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay.”

Devdasalso starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit in the lead roles, is a 2002 romantic drama.

On professional front, Dananeer was recently seen in My Lyari and Love from meme.
