Danger looms over India playing semi-final at Wankhede Stadium, suspense increased due to Pakistan

Now in the Super 8 round, India is in Group 1 along with South Africa, Zimbabwe and West Indies. India’s Super 8 campaign will start against South Africa in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Pakistan’s impact on semi-final venue

The semi-finals are to be held on March 4 and 5. Normally the first semi-final is scheduled for Kolkata (Eden Gardens) and the second for Mumbai (Wankhede Stadium). However, if Pakistan reaches the semi-finals and faces India, then the match will be shifted to Colombo (R. Premadasa Stadium). This is due to the hybrid model, in which India-Pakistan matches are held at neutral venues.

Pakistan’s Super 8 matches are also being held in Sri Lanka, because they are not playing in India. Let us tell you, Pakistan’s first Super 8 match against New Zealand was canceled due to rain, due to which their path to the semi-finals has become difficult.

India’s semi-final in different conditions

If India tops Group 1 and Pakistan is out, then the first semi-final will be held in Kolkata on March 4.
If India remains on top and Pakistan remains second in Group 2, then the India-Pakistan semi-final will be held in Colombo on March 4.
If India finished second and Pakistan finished first, then the India-Pakistan match would still be held in Colombo on March 4.
If India and Pakistan finish on top/second of their respective groups, then India’s semi-final will be held on March 5 in Mumbai.
Even if Pakistan is out and India is at second place, this match will be held in Mumbai on March 5.

22 February – South Africa vs India (Ahmedabad)
26 February – Zimbabwe vs India (Chennai)
March 1 – West Indies vs India (Kolkata)

The final is in Ahmedabad on March 8, but if Pakistan reaches the final then it can also be shifted to Colombo. Now it is necessary for Team India to perform well in the Super 8 so that it can get the home ground advantage in the semi-finals.
