Hyderabad: The Meteorological Department has issued an important update for the residents of Andhra Pradesh. The deep depression formed in the south-west Bay of Bengal has now become active, due to which it is going to rain in many parts of the state this weekend. However, there is news of relief for those who were in fear of the cyclone; According to the latest report, this system has now weakened and at present the danger of the cyclone has passed.
There will be clouds in these districts, there may be rain
The State Disaster Management Authority has issued an alert for some selected districts. It has been reported that light rain may occur in Tirupati, Nellore, Chittoor, Palnadu, Prakasam and Bapatla districts on Saturday and Sunday. There are chances of rain not only in the coastal areas but also in many areas of Rayalaseema region. The administration has advised the local people to remain alert and stay in safe places during bad weather.
System turned towards Sri Lanka, heavy rain in these states
According to the Meteorological Department, this deep depression is moving in the north-west direction. It is likely to hit the Sri Lankan coast between Trincomalee and Jaffna by Saturday afternoon. Because the weather conditions are not favorable, it will gradually weaken. Even though the major danger has been averted in Andhra Pradesh, due to its impact, neighboring states Tamil Nadu and Kerala may see heavy rains for the next two days.
Red alert for fishermen and signals at ports
In view of the sea condition, the Meteorological Department has asked to exercise extreme caution. The first level danger signal has been issued for all major ports. Fishermen have been given strict instructions not to venture into the sea for the next few days as waves and winds can be dangerous.
Double attack of severe cold and fog
Amidst the rain alert, cold has also started showing its presence in Andhra Pradesh. Dense fog and falling mercury are affecting the everyday life of people. In many areas the temperature has fallen far below 20 degrees Celsius. The severity of cold is worst in hilly and tribal dominated districts like Parvathipuram Manyam and Alluri. According to the latest data, the temperature has reached 4.1°C in Paderu, 4.8°C in Pedabayalu and 5°C in Chintapalli.
Take special care of the elderly and children
In view of the increasing cold and possible rain, health experts and the Meteorological Department have appealed to take special precautions for children and the elderly. The effect of cold winds is now being felt not only in the morning and evening but also in the afternoon. People have been advised to use warm clothes and go out of the house only when absolutely necessary.
