The International Cricket Council (ICC) has honored New Zealand’s star all-rounder Daryl Mitchell and Bangladesh’s talented batsman Sobhana Mosteri with the ‘Player of the Month’ award for January 2026. Both the players achieved this feat by performing brilliantly in their respective formats.

The Kiwis were trailing 0-1 in the first match, but Mitchell’s two consecutive brilliant century innings changed the course of the series. Mitchell scored a total of 352 runs at an average of 176 in the three-match series and was named ‘Player of the Series’. Even in the five-match T20 series played against India, Mitchell showed his aggressive batting by scoring 125 runs at a strike rate of 186.56. Whereas in women’s cricket, Sobhana Mostari of Bangladesh performed well in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier. He scored 229 runs in the first six matches of the tournament at an average of 45.80 and a strike rate of 145.85. Thanks to her contribution, Bangladesh team remained undefeated in the tournament and managed to qualify for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup.

In the crucial match against Thailand, Mostari played a match-winning inning of 59 runs and won the title of ‘Player of the Match’. After this, against Scotland also he contributed to the team’s victory by playing an important inning of 47 runs.
