‘Made in Korea’ OTT release: Date, cast, plot & Netflix premiere

People find their first dreams through unexpected moments which begin with their childhood stories and classroom breaks and their exploration of distant worlds.

The experience of Shenba matched this pattern. She maintained her basic dream of visiting South Korea which she held during her daily activities in her Tamil Nadu hometown.

The premiere of Made in Korea on March 12 only on Netflix shows Shenba traveling from Tamil Nadu to South Korea through her life changing journey.

Rise East Entertainment produced the film which Ra.Karthik wrote and directed. Made in Korea tracks Shenbagam’s life path which started when her childhood love for Korean culture led her to experience it firsthand.

The main character discovers the true difficulties of Seoul when she unexpectedly travels there which drives her to follow a genuine journey through personal growth and new relationships.

Sharing his inspiration behind the film director said, “I am quite fascinated with the deep cultural connections and historical similarities between Korean and Tamil heritage. This curiosity inspired me to tell a story that felt personal and full of hope. Made In Korea is a slice-of-life film crafted with warmth celebrating this unique cultural bond and I’m thankful to Netflix for championing stories that transcend languages and bring global cultures closer together.”

Monika Shergill, Vice President Content, Netflix India, shares, “As we deepen our commitment to the South and continue building a distinctive slate of films and series we remain focused on stories that are deeply rooted in local culture yet resonate far beyond borders. Made in Korea beautifully brings that vision to life. At its heart is a young girl from a small village in Tamil Nadu whose fascination with Korea shapes her dreams – a deeply human story of aspiration, identity and belonging. Created by director and writer Ra.Karthik and producer Sreenidhi Sagar and led by Priyanka Mohan alongside acclaimed South Korean actor of Squid Game fame, Park Hye-Jin, the film celebrates a heartfelt cultural bridge between India and Korea. It is intimate, endearing and globally resonant – exactly the kind of cross-cultural storytelling Netflix is proud to champion.”

The film stars Priyanka Mohan who authenticates Shenba’s emotional development through her performance. The film casts South Korean actors Park Hye-jin and No Ho-jin in main roles which create authentic representation of its multicultural setting.

Made in Korea premieres March 12, exclusively on Netflix.
