TV host Cathy Wong has sold her luxury apartment at Hong Kong’s The Sorrento complex for HK$20 million (US$2.6 million), resulting in an estimated loss of HK$1 million.

According to Land Registry records cited by Dimsum DailyWong purchased the high-floor unit in July 2020 for HK$19.85 million. The resale price represented a modest gain of about HK$150,000. However, market observers said the transaction likely resulted in an overall loss after accounting for stamp duties, real estate commissions, and legal fees.

The apartment has a saleable area of 755 square feet (174 square meters) and was originally designed as a three-bedroom unit before being converted into a more spacious two-bedroom layout.

It previously attracted public attention after being featured on a television property program that offered viewers a look inside the home. During the segment, Wong explained that the primary bedroom had been expanded by combining two rooms into a larger space used for exercise and relaxation.

The program also showcased a large study where Wong practiced the harp and Chinese calligraphy.

Wong comes from a family with extensive real estate holdings. Her father, businessman Wong Ah Ming, widely known as a “furniture king,” also owns a unit at The Sorrento. Public records show he purchased a high-floor, three-bedroom apartment in the complex in 2007 for HK$18 million. The unit has a saleable area of 1,124 square feet.

Now 31, Wong launched her entertainment career after competing in the 2021 Miss Hong Kong pageant, where she finished fifth, according to Channel News Asia.

Before entering the pageant, Wong graduated with first-class honors in psychology from University College London. She later returned to Hong Kong to pursue a Juris Doctor degree at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Since her pageant appearance, Wong has worked as a television host and media personality.
