David Alonso tops Moto3 practice; Ivan Ortolá and David Muñoz miss out on Q2 directly – Read
Moto3 practice began with Adrián Fernández leading (2:11.684s) and ten minutes into the session, the Spaniard was still in front, with more than half a second advantage over the second, then Tatsuki Suzuki, with Taiyo Furusato in third, Collin Veijer in fourth, and Ángel Piqueras in fifth for now.
Ryusei Yamana then set the second fastest time, but still 0.457s behind the leader. A couple of minutes later, Eddie O’Shea crashed at turn 11, without injury.
Shortly after, there was a brief stop in the box for some of the riders, with almost 15 minutes to go, which was then joined by practically all the riders who were still on the track.
The restart took place with six minutes still on the clock, about a minute later Furusato climbed to second place, 0.038s ahead of Veijer, third for now.
With two minutes to go, the world champion made his presence felt, David Alonso, and set the fastest time for now, 2:11.241s, a 0.216s advantage over A. Fernández.
The session ended shortly after and the 14 riders who directly secured their place in Q2 were thus found, with some notable names missing out, such as Ivan Ortolá and David Muñoz, for example.
