Davos 2025: Smriti Irani to speak on gender equality, sustainable development
New Delhi: A 5-day meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) is starting from Monday in Davos, the capital of Switzerland. Politicians from important and powerful countries and people associated with the economic world from 70 countries of the world will participate in the meeting. US President Donald Trump will address this economic forum virtually.
BJP leader and former Union minister Smriti Irani will be attending the WEF event as the Founder and Chairperson of the Alliance for Global Good. She will speak on the achievements of Indian women on the world stage. She will present her views as chair of the Alliance for Global Good – a forum created by CII supported by Bill Gates Foundation.
Irani, Founder and Chairperson of the Alliance for Global Good, is set to play a pivotal role in advancing global conversations on equity, inclusion, and sustainable development. With a strong focus on fostering multi-stakeholder collaboration, Ms. Irani’s presence will emphasize actionable solutions that empower women as critical drivers of economic and social progress.
Smriti Irani’s Advocacy for Gender Equality and Sustainable Solutions
Smriti Irani will play the role of speaker in 3 sessions. She will present her views about Indian women on this world forum in 2 sessions on 22 January and in 1 session on 23 January.
Her engagements at the forum will bring together leaders from diverse sectors, including
government, business, and philanthropy, to address pressing challenges such as gender
equity, healthcare access, digital inclusion, and climate resilience. Through carefully curated
dialogues and partnerships, Irani aims to amplify the voices of women leaders while
advocating for systemic changes that promote diversity and inclusion at all levels.
January 22: Irani will moderate a session at the World Economic Forum. In her first session, Smriti Irani will speak in favour of the issues of education reforms, gender equality and supporting scalable economic policies.
In the second session of the World Economic Forum, Irani, as a transformative leader advocating systemic reforms, will present her views on the issues of energy and gender equality.
In her third address on 23 January, she will share her experiences of leading initiatives for change in the field of nutrition.
Central to her vision is the Alliance for Global Good, whose programming at the We-Lead Lounge will serve as a cornerstone for impactful discussions. Designed as a platform for innovation and collaboration, the lounge will host sessions on emerging technologies, sustainable practices, and leadership frameworks that prioritize inclusivity. These engagements are expected to result in partnerships and strategies that address critical barriers while unlocking opportunities for women globally.
