Days of Our Lives is set to debut the new Lexie Carverthe daughter of Stefano DiMera and Celeste Perrault, this week. The character was introduced in 1987 and has been portrayed by several actresses over the years.
Renée Jones was the last to portray the character from 1993 to 2012. Lexie did appear briefly in 2021, but she wasn’t played by Jones; instead, the role was temporarily filled by Jennifer Lee. While in the past Lexie’s story concluded with her being presumed dead, the latest storyline has managed to resurrect her through Dr. Rolf, who is doing his best to bring her back to consciousness.
Nikki Crawford to play new Lexie on Days of Our Lives
Nikki Crawford, popularly known for the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Fat Ham, is set to portray Lexie on Days of Our Lives on March 6, 2026. Originally, the character was played by Cyndi James Gossett. Apart from being the daughter of DiMera, Leslie is the wife of Salem Mayor, Abe Carver.
In 2012, she suffered from a brain tumor, leading to her death in the arms of her loving husband. Although she was declared dead back then, the show recently took a new direction, revealing that she was secretly being kept alive by Dr. Wilhelm Rolf. For all this time, she was placed in a mysterious lab at the hospital, where Rolf attempted to bring her back from the dead.
In a conversation with TV InsiderCrawford shared her thoughts on the resurrection twist and the efforts she made on her end to bring the storyline to life. She said, “I played it more like she was in a coma for these last 15 years. I really honored who she was, but I also grounded her in who she is. I would say at her core, Lexie is driven by love. Her family is everything to her. And now that she’s been given a second chance at life, that raises the stakes.”
She further teased how things shake up for Lexie’s then-husband, Abe, who is now married to Paulina, and their son, Theo, when they learn that she is alive. “But I think what makes her relatable is that she’s willing to fight for what she loves. Most people, if given a second chance, would do the same thing. So she may come in with love, but she’s not coming in quietly,” she explained.
