DDCA achieved new heights under the leadership of Rohan Jaitley: From financial crisis to success

Delhi: Before Rohan Jaitley became the president, Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) was in deep financial crisis. The association had only Rs 85 lakh in its account, while a loan of Rs 14 crore had to be repaid to the vendors. Between 2011 and 2019, dues of Rs 8 crore were still to be paid to the coaches and support staff. But today, under the leadership of Jaitley, DDCA has fixed deposits of Rs 100 crore. The association had spent Rs 70 crore on stadium renovation in preparation for the 2023 World Cup and currently spends 95% of its funds on cricket.

Crisis of 2016-17 and beginning of recovery

In 2016-17, DDCA was in crisis due to lack of leadership, after which Mukul Mudgal (retired judge) started the reform process, which was taken forward by Rohan Jaitley and strengthened the union. Today DDCA has not only become financially strong but has also become cricket-centric.

Investment on infrastructure and players

DDCA invested heavily in floodlights, new seats and other infrastructure of the stadium. Not only this, the association started insurance and pension schemes for the players. Even the outstanding amount between 2011-2019 was paid.

Historic success of T20 league

DDCA's annual T20 league earns Rs 65 crore, much more than most state cricket associations in India. This success showed how the association is contributing to the development of the game along with earning profits.

Delhi cricket legends and future stars

Delhi has also made a lot of progress in the field of cricket. Young players like Mayank Yadav, Harshit Rana, Anuj Rawat, Hrithik Shokin, Ayush Badon and Sanat Sangwan are impressing everyone with their talent. Delhi, which has been home to legends like Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, is now carrying forward its cricketing legacy with the new generation of players.
