Deadly attack on school going student with caste based abuses, two named in SC/ST Act

Golabazar, Gorakhpur- A case of brutal assault on a Dalit student has come to light in Gola police station area of ​​the district. While going to school, the student was surrounded on the way, beaten with kicks, punches, caste based abuses and threatened to be killed. On the complaint of the mother of the seriously injured student, Gola police has registered a case against the two accused under serious sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) including the Scheduled Caste/Tribe Prevention of Atrocities Act.

According to the information received, Bindu Devi’s wife Vijay Mal, resident of village Ballia of Gola police station area, told in the written complaint given in the police station that her son Sumit had left home on December 17 to study in a junior high school located in Janipur. On the way, two youths, Dharamveer and Jaichand Yadav, sons of Jaiprakash Yadav, residents of neighboring village Jhanjhwa, surrounded him. It is alleged that both the youths brutally beat the student with kicks, punches and punches, due to which his nose and mouth got torn and he was seriously injured.

The victim alleges that during the fight, the accused insulted her son with caste-related words and threatened to kill him if he was seen here again. After the incident, the injured student was taken for treatment, where his condition is said to be critical. There is an atmosphere of anger in the area due to the incident and there is anger among the people regarding Dalit oppression.
