Husseini Isa, head of Niger state's National Emergency Management Agency, said the death toll could rise further. After this incident, petrol prices have increased in Nigeria. A year ago, the President had removed subsidy on petrol, due to which incidents of such looting are increasing. After this decision, incidents of looting have increased considerably.
After such incidents, people are demanding strict traffic rules. Besides, an appeal is also being made to the government to make a separate route or special arrangement.

A major accident occurred in the north-central part of Nigeria in the early hours of Saturday. Here a tanker filled with gasoline overturned. Seeing this, people nearby started looting oil from the tanker. Meanwhile, there was a massive explosion, due to which people standing nearby got hit by it. So far 98 people have lost their lives in this accident, and many people are fighting for life and death in the hospital.
This accident has happened before
Such accidents are now happening frequently in Africa's largest oil producing country, Nigeria. Hundreds of people have lost their lives so far in these accidents. In October, a similar explosion took place in Jigawa state, in which 147 people were killed. This was one of Nigeria's greatest tragedies. Due to fuel being expensive, people try to loot so that they do not have to spend much money, but for many people this savings comes at the cost of their lives.
