Country's Parliament, Delhi Airport also on Waqf land, dispute over Badruddin Ajmal's claim

All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) President and former MP Badruddin Ajmal claimed that the Waqf Board is the owner of the buildings of the Parliament and surrounding areas of the capital Delhi. Ajmal said that the area from Vasant Vihar to the airport in the capital is Waqf property and the government wants to grab 9.7 lakh bighas of land. He has also demanded to give Waqf land to the Muslim community.

“Using Waqf land without permission is wrong. On this issue of Waqf Board, Modi government will lose its government very soon”, he further said. Meanwhile, opposition MPs have written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla regarding the clear violation of the parliamentary code of conduct during the meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024.

In this letter, the opposition MPs have alleged multiple violations of parliamentary code of conduct and rules of procedure during the JPC meeting held in New Delhi on October 14 by committee chairperson Jagdambika Pal. Opposition MPs said in a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker, “The proceedings of the committee were conducted in a partisan manner by Chairperson Jagdambika Pal. The invitation given by the Speaker to Anwar Maniappadi to present evidence before the Committee is not within the scope and jurisdiction of the Committee.”

Opposition MPs claimed that the note titled “Presentation on Waqf Bill 2012 based on Karnataka Waqf Scam Report 2012” did not contain any comments on the Waqf Bill but only politically motivated allegations against Karnataka Congress leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge.
