Debris, stampede and panic, horrifying videos surfaced on social media after earthquake in Venezuela

New Delhi: Two earthquakes that occurred in Venezuela on Wednesday evening shook the entire country. These tremors, which came at an interval of a few seconds, created panic among the people. During this time, in many cities including the capital Caracas, people were seen running out of homes, offices and other buildings towards open fields to save their lives.

Video surfaced on social media

According to the information, the first earthquake was of 7.2 magnitude, immediately after which a second tremor of 7.5 magnitude was felt. Both earthquakes were so strong that buildings were damaged in many areas, cracks appeared in the walls and at some places parts of the buildings collapsed. In the video going viral on social media, people are seen running on the streets in panic, while at many places debris is seen scattered on the roads.

The impact of the earthquake was not limited to Caracas only, rather strong tremors were felt in many parts of the country. According to eyewitnesses, the earth kept trembling for several seconds, due to which people were badly scared. Due to fear of aftershock, a large number of people spent the night outside their homes.

Impact visible at airports too

Due to the earthquake, electricity and communication services have also been affected in some areas and traffic has been disrupted due to accumulation of debris on many roads. At the same time, relief and rescue teams are facing challenges in reaching the affected areas. Not only this, the impact of the earthquake was also seen at the major airports of the country. In the video surfaced on social media, passengers were seen running out of the terminal carrying their luggage. Along with this, some people were seen hiding in safe places inside the building for safety.

Relief and rescue operations intensified

Seeing the seriousness of the situation, Acting President Delsey Rodriguez has declared a state of emergency in the country. The government has intensified relief and rescue operations and disaster management teams have been deployed in the affected areas. The damage is also being assessed. Opposition leaders and social organizations have expressed condolences to the affected people. The administration has appealed to the citizens to remain alert and not pay attention to rumours. At present, the eyes of the entire country are focused on relief and rescue operations.
