Decide, do we want it or them? Pakistan’s Army Chief gives last ultimatum to Taliban
News India Live, Digital Desk: Today, relations with those whom Pakistan once considered closest to it have come to a critical juncture. Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir has warned the Taliban government of Afghanistan in very strong words. His message is very clear, now you have to choose, are you standing with Pakistan or with those terrorists? Why did the General get angry? This statement of General Munir has come at a time when terrorist attacks have increased significantly in Pakistan, especially in the border areas. Speaking at a conference of Ulemas (religious scholars) in Islamabad, the Army Chief expressed both his pain and anger. He directly attacked TTP i.e. ‘Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’. He called TTP “Fitna al-Khawarij”. In the history of Islam, ‘Khawarij’ are those who rebel and spread anarchy by misinterpreting the religion. That is, Munir made it clear that these terrorists are a stain on the name of Islam. “Who will answer for the blood of our children?” General Munir asked a very emotional question which has now become a topic of discussion. He said, “Aren’t the terrorists coming from the soil of Afghanistan shedding the blood of our innocent children?” Pakistan alleges that TTP fighters are hiding in Afghanistan and plan attacks from there. Munir claimed that a large number of Afghan civilians were involved in these attacks. He reminded the Taliban government that as a neighbor it is their duty not to allow their land to be used against Pakistan. Now what will happen next? General Munir has bluntly told the Taliban government that they will have to decide their priorities. Will they embrace TTP or maintain good relations with Pakistan? This statement shows that Pakistan’s patience is now running out. Experts say that this is not just a statement but a ‘final warning’. If no concrete steps are taken from Kabul, the tension on the border may increase further in the coming days. Pakistan wants to give the message that now it will not make any ‘respect’ in the matter of security.
