Deepti Naval Story: Deepti Naval always appeared with a different identity in Indian cinema. Deepti’s story begins in Amritsar, where her childhood was spent in an environment filled with memories of Partition. His father was an English professor and mother a painter and teacher. Art and expression were a part of his life since childhood. At the age of just ten, he realized that he was inclined towards the screen. Inspired by films in his adolescence, he once tried to run away from home, but the police brought him back home. This incident reflects his inner passion and restlessness, which he later wrote in detail in his book.
In 1971, the family moved to New York, where he studied Fine Arts, Psychology and Astrology. After graduation, he decided to make acting his career. In New York he learned television and camera work and also hosted a radio show, where he got the opportunity to interview Indian film stars.
Struggled in the beginning, then got success
After returning to India he started the struggle in Mumbai. She got huge recognition from Sai Paranjape’s film ‘Chashme Buddoor’ and became a star overnight. After this, his acting in films like Katha, Angoor and Kamla made him a strong voice of parallel cinema. She wanted to be a part of stories that could touch the hearts of the audience.

However, after success came challenges also. In the mid-80s, he distanced himself from light roles, which was misunderstood by the industry. During this period, she met filmmaker Prakash Jha and both of them got married. But the industry mentality of that time was not favorable for married actresses. After marriage she got less work. This was a difficult and emotionally draining period for him.
After the breakdown of her marriage, she went through deep depression. Studying psychology helped her recognize her symptoms, but it was not easy for her to seek help because of her public image. He took care of himself through painting, writing and introspection. He admitted that failure and pain made him a better artist.
Despite separation from Prakash Jha, both of them maintained mutual respect and adopted a daughter named Disha Jha in 1988. Later Deepti got the support of actor and singer Vinod Pandit, with whom she had a deep emotional relationship. Both of them went on creative journeys together, but Vinod died due to cancer. This loss shook him again, but he also adapted it into his art.
