India all-rounder Deepti Sharma created history by becoming the highest wicket-taker in women’s T20 Internationals. She picked up her 152nd wicket during the fifth T20I against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday. With this, she went past Australia’s Megan Schutt, who had 151 wickets.
Deepti reached the landmark by dismissing Nilakshika Silva in the 14th over. Her effort helped India complete a dominant 5–0 series sweep at home. Pakistan’s Nida Dar is next on the list with 144 wickets, the same tally as Rwanda’s H. Ishimwe.
Earlier this week, the 28-year-old also became the first cricketer in men’s or women’s internationals to score 1,000 runs and take 150 wickets in T20Is. She has played 133 T20Is for India and is currently ranked number one in the ICC Women’s T20I all-rounder rankings. Deepti was also named Player of the Tournament at the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup, where India won their maiden title at home.
