Deepti Sharma Stars as India Outclass Pakistan at Edgbaston
A brilliant five-fer from Deepti Sharma has set up India’s massive 64-run victory against their rivals Pakistan Women in the 6th match of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 on June 14 at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
Her five-wicket haul in her four-over spell, conceding only 10 runs, has set up Pakistan to get bowled out for 106 runs in their chase as India secure their first win to secure second position in the group A of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 points table.
After choosing to bat first, Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana opened the innings while Sadia Iqbal opened the bowling attack.
With the dismissal of Shafali (6) and Jemimah Rodrigues (1) by Sadia Iqbal and Tasmia Rubab respectively, India lost two wickets for 18 runs in the powerplay.
However, a steady 91-run partnership from Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur has set up India to score 109 runs for three wickets.
Smriti Mandhana smashed a fifty and went on to score 68 runs off 44 deliveries before being dismissed by Rameen Shamim.
Bharti Fulmali who came to bat at No.5, got dismissed cheaply for 1 runs by Sadia Iqbal. With the dismissal of Harmanpreet Kaur for 36 runs, India lost three wickets in 14-run intervals.
However a solid cameo from Richa Ghosh has set up India to cross 150-run mark. She smashed 34 runs off 17 deliveries before being dismissed by Fatima Sana. With Deepti Sharma and Shreyanka Patil at crease, India went on to score 170 runs for 6 wickets in their 20 over innings.
Sadia Iqbal and Fatima Sana bagged two wickets each while Tasmia Rubab and Rameen Shamim bagged one wicket each.

Chasing a 171 run target, Pakistan’s Muneeba Ali and Gull Feroza opened the innings while Arundhati Reddy opened the bowling attack. The opener duo made a decent start scoring 38 runs for the 1st wicket.
Deepti Sharma bagged the first wicket dismissing Gull Feroza for 12 runs. Ayesha Zafar who came to bat at no.3, joined Muneeba Ali at crease as the side went on to score 52 runs in the powerplay.
Deepti Sharma went on to bag his second wicket dismissing Zafar for 12 runs. shree Charani bagged her first wicket, dismissing Saira for 2 runs.
With Deepti Sharma dismissing Muneeba Ali for 41 runs on a run out, Pakistan lost four wicket for 75 runs.
The remaining middle order and lower order could not keep up with India bowlers as the side went on to lose wickets at regular interval. Shafali Verma bagged the crucial wicket of Fatima Sana for duck.
On the other hand, Shree Charani bagged her second and third wicket by dismissing Natalia Pervaiz and Rameen Shamim.
Meanwhile, Deepti Sharma bagged the wickets of Aliya Riaz, Tasmin Rubab and Nashra Sandhu in the 17th over as the side went on to lost all 10 wickets for 106 runs.
Deepti Sharma completed her 5-wicket haul while Shree Charani bagged three wickets and Shafali Verma completed her 3-over spell with a wicket tally.
