‘You have 5 years’, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh gave a big challenge to DRDO to make indigenous engines.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh visited the (DRDO) Gas Turbine Research Establishment in Bengaluru on Monday. During this, the Defense Minister asked the scientists to complete the indigenous aero-engine project within five years. Rajnath Singh also said that preparations should be made to make 6th generation jet engines. Emphasizing the importance of India’s strategic independence and rapid mastery of essential technologies, the Defense Minister said that keeping in mind the current situation and strategic needs of the country, the 25-year target should be reduced to five years.

Complete indigenous aero-engine project in 5 years

Rajnath Singh considered the deadline a challenge; However, he said this ‘should not be surprising’. The Defense Minister said, ‘If it takes 25 years to build an engine, then considering India’s current situation, our strategic needs and our national goals, we should assume that 20 of those years have already passed and only five years are left.

Rajnath Singh further said that India cannot be limited to just the fifth generation engine and should immediately start work on the sixth generation and advanced technology.
