Fast bowlers Akash Deep and Harshit Rana are likely to be out of these matches. It may take time for him to recover from the injury. Sources in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) told news agency PTI that it is difficult for both of them to be fit, as it will take some time for them to become completely match fit.

Both pacers were out of IPL 2026
Akash Deep is recovering from a back injury, while Harshit had knee surgery. This surgery was due to a torn ligament just a few days before the start of the T20 World Cup in India. Both these pacers contracted with Kolkata Knight Riders are not playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
A BCCI source said, ‘Aakash and Harshit’s rehabilitation is on the right track but it will take a lot of time for them to get clearance to play the match. If we talk about Afghanistan and UK tour, there is no possibility of both of them being fit by that time. He is still doing strengthening exercises. After this, jogging, fast walking, sprint and then skill training will start under the ‘Return to Play’ protocol.
Akash Deep is mostly seen playing Test cricket. Whereas Harshit is an important part of the team’s plans in ODI and T20 International formats. In 2025, Harshit emerged as India’s most successful ODI bowler. He took 26 wickets in 14 matches. The most memorable moment of Akash Deep’s career came during the Anderson-Tendulkar series in Birmingham last year, when he took 10 wickets against England.

May return at the beginning of the domestic season
Experts believe that Akash Deep may take more time than Harshit to return to competitive cricket. His comeback opportunity could be the Duleep Trophy in August. The Duleep Trophy begins the Indian domestic season.
