Dense fog blankets Delhi-NCR, air quality index above ‘severe’ level, AQI near 500
Delhi AQI: Today, there is a blanket of dense fog in Delhi-NCR amid severe air pollution. According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, the air quality index in the capital was recorded at 493 at 7 am on Monday, which puts it in the ‘severe-plus’ category. This data indicates a very dangerous situation regarding air quality, which can pose a serious health risk to people. Let us tell you that the air quality index in Delhi has reached its worst level this season. The air quality index in 38 out of 39 monitoring centers in Delhi was recorded in the ‘severe’ or ‘severe plus’ category.
Where did AQI reach above 500?
On Monday, the air quality index crossed 500 in many areas of Delhi. Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, AQI in Wazirpur, Rohini and Ashok Vihar reached 500, which is the highest level ever recorded by CPCB. Because this index did not take into account the parameters above this limit. Due to which experts have warned that the actual pollution level, especially during peak hours, could be much higher.

Many areas of NCR near high levels of pollution
Meanwhile, on Sunday, the pollution level reached very close to the maximum limit in many areas across Delhi. During this period, AQI of 499 was recorded in Jahangirpuri and Mundka, followed by Air Quality Index of 498 in Bawana, 497 in Delhi Technical University and 497 in Vivek Vihar. Whereas the air quality index reached 493 in Narela and 492 in Anand Vihar area.
