Delhi blast case: NIA raid in Srinagar
New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had conducted a massive search operation by raiding a house in Naugam area of Srinagar on Saturday in connection with the Delhi blast case. According to sources, this raid was carried out on a house located in Naik-Bagh Naugam, which was used by the main accused Maulvi Irfan as a rented house. This house falls within the limits of Chanpora police station. Maulvi Irfan lived in this house for the last few years. When the NIA team raided, the entire area was brought under security cordon. Local police and CRPF personnel helped the agency in this operation.
Maulvi Irfan is originally a resident of Shopian. Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir Police had arrested him in the ‘Jesh-e-Mohammed’ poster case. Subsequently, with the help of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh Police, terror modules were exposed in Faridabad and Saharanpur, in which Irfan’s conspiracy was exposed and he was handed over to NIA. Even in the Red Fort blast case of Delhi, his name was revealed as the main accused and the agency has duly arrested him.
According to the investigating officers, Maulvi Irfan was in direct contact with the suspected terrorists who planned and executed the blast. The agency is currently investigating his role. Officials had said that the main objective of the investigation is to expose the entire network behind this blast. Based on the analysis of the items and digital evidence found during the raid in Srinagar, there is a possibility of more arrests in the coming days.
