Ahead of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 season, Delhi Capitals are strengthening their coaching team. The team has appointed former Indian cricketer Anagha Deshpande as assistant coach. Anagha replaces Lisa Keightley in the role. Following her appointment, Anagha said she will strive to help the team win their first title.

Speaking to IANS, Anagha Deshpande said, “This is a great opportunity for me. I will get to learn many things that will be useful in the future. I have seen them trying to win the trophy for the last three years, and I hope I can help them win it this time.

Anagha has coached Uttarakhand

Before becoming the coach of Delhi Capitals, she coached Uttarakhand. She has also worked on various assignments at the zonal and national levels for camps organized by the BCCI Centre of Excellence.

What is Anagha’s international career like?

Between 2008 and 2014, Anagha played 23 ODIs and eight T20s for the Indian team, scoring a total of 483 runs across both formats. She was a wicketkeeper-batter. She took 16 catches and effected 21 stumpings in white-ball cricket. In domestic cricket, she played for Maharashtra, Railways, Gujarat, and Puducherry.

Anju Jain could become the batting coach

According to information received by IANS, Anju Jain, who played 8 Tests and 65 ODIs for India between 1993 and 2005, could become the batting coach of the Delhi team. Anju has previously worked as an assistant coach for UP Warriors in the first two seasons of the league. She has also coached the Indian team and has served as the chairperson of the women’s selection committee.
