Delhi Capitals beat Lucknow by 6 wickets, Rizvi scored a half-century

In the fifth match of IPL 2026, Delhi Capitals performed brilliantly and defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 6 wickets. The heroes of this victory were Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs, who managed the team in difficult circumstances and made an unbeaten 119-run partnership for the fifth wicket. The sensible innings of both the batsmen completely changed the course of the match.

Delhi’s best bowling

Batting first, Lucknow team scored 141 runs in 18.4 overs and lost all its wickets. Abdul Samad scored the highest score of 36 runs (25 balls) for the team, but other batsmen failed to play big innings. Delhi’s bowling was very effective, where Lungi Ngidi and T Natarajan performed brilliantly and took 3 wickets each and prevented Lucknow’s innings from scoring big.

Delhi had a very bad start while chasing the target of 142 runs. The team lost four important wickets in the initial overs itself. Within the power play, the score had become 4 wickets for 33 runs, due to which the match seemed to be going completely in favor of Lucknow. KL Rahul was out without opening the account, while Nitish Rana returned to the pavilion after scoring 15 runs. Apart from this, Pathum Nissanka and Akshar Patel were also out cheaply.

Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs took over the innings

In such difficult times, Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs took the responsibility. Both of them first batted with restraint and then gradually increased the run rate. Rizvi played an unbeaten inning of 70 runs on 47 balls, which included 5 fours and 4 sixes. Whereas Stubbs supported him well and took the team to the threshold of victory. Delhi achieved this target in 17.1 overs.

In Lucknow’s bowling, Prince Yadav took maximum 2 wickets and spent 20 runs in 3 overs. Mohammed Shami and Mohsin Khan also got one success each, but the rest of the bowlers could not make an impact. Overall, this match was a great example of the fighting performance of Delhi Capitals, where despite the initial setbacks, the team did not lose courage and registered a memorable victory.
