Delhi Capitals disintegrated in powerplay: 6 wickets, 13 runs in 6 overs and a dark day recorded in the record
New Delhi. T20 Cricket is known for its uncertainty, but the sight seen in this match surprised everyone. Delhi Capitals, which had scored a huge score of 264 runs some time ago, the same team completely collapsed in the very next match and was all out for just 75 runs. This fall was not just a defeat, but became a record which will be remembered for a long time.
From the very beginning of the match, there were indications that the day was not going to be easy for Delhi. Royal Challengers Bangalore bowlers bowled aggressively with precise line and length and did not give any chance to the batsmen to recover. After the wicket fell in the very first over, the pressure increased and the situation went completely out of control in the next few overs.
By the end of 6 overs of powerplay, there were only 13 runs on the scoreboard and 6 batsmen had returned to the pavilion. A worse start than this had never been seen before in the history of IPL. Earlier, the record of lowest powerplay score was in the name of Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, but Delhi left that too behind.
Delhi’s batsmen could neither understand the speed of the ball nor adapt themselves to the conditions. The team did not get any chance to recover due to continuous fall of wickets. Lack of partnership and wrong shot selection made the situation worse. The batting order looked completely scattered, where no player could take responsibility and handle the innings.
On the other hand, the Bangalore team looked perfect in every department. The bowlers not only took wickets but also kept the run rate under complete control. The team did not make any mistakes even in fielding, due to which the pressure remained constant. It was a performance in which planning, discipline and confidence were clearly visible.
This match once again proved that one day’s performance in T20 cricket is not a guarantee of the next day. For Delhi Capitals, this defeat is not just limited to statistics, but it can also affect the confidence of the team.
Now the biggest challenge before them will be to recover from this setback and give a balanced and strong performance in the coming matches.
