Delhi Capitals (DC) have revamped their squad for the IPL 2025 season following an eventful mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The franchise has built a well-rounded team, blending international superstars, experienced Indian players, and promising young talent.
Key signings and retentions
The Capitals’ headline acquisition is Indian batting maestro KL Rahulwho is expected to lead the team. The inclusion of England’s hard-hitting batter Harry Brook and Australian pace legend Mitchell Starc further bolsters the squad. South African veteran Faf du Plessisknown for his leadership and consistency, has also been roped in, adding depth to the batting lineup.
Earlier, DC retained core players like all-rounder Axar Patel and wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadavboth of whom were instrumental in past campaigns. South Africa batter Tristan Stubbsknown for accelerating the innings in the middle overs, and promising Indian wicketkeeper-batter Abhishek Porel were also retained.
Emerging talents and strategic picks
The Capitals have shown faith in emerging domestic talents like Ashutosh Sharma, Sameer Rizvi and Vipraj Nigamreflecting their strategy of nurturing young players. They also brought in Donovan Ferreiraa South African wicketkeeper-batter with a reputation for finishing games, and Sri Lankan speedster Dushmantha Chameera to strengthen their bowling attack.
Additionally, DC have added experienced Indian players like Karun Nair, Mohit Sharma and Mukesh Kumar to provide stability. Uncapped players like Manvanth Kumar, Tripura Vijayand Madhav Tiwari could be game-changers in the coming season.
