Masterstroke by Delhi Capitals before IPL 2026! KL Rahul will open
IPL 2026: Taking a big decision before IPL 2026, Delhi Capitals has changed its batting strategy. The team has made it clear that KL Rahul will be seen opening this season. Despite a great start last season, Delhi Capitals could not make it to the playoffs and finished fifth. The biggest reason for this was the team’s unstable top order, where constant changes spoiled the team’s rhythm.

Team head coach Hemang Badani and cricket director Venugopal Rao admitted in the press conference that last season a lot of experiments were done with the opening pair, due to which the team had to suffer the consequences. Delhi tried 7 different opening pairs throughout the season and made about 13 changes in the top order. Initially, the pair of Faf du Plessis and McCurg was fielded, but due to poor form the team had to make repeated changes.
Hemang Badani said that in the last few years, a strong opening partnership has become very important in T20 cricket. Keeping this in mind, this time the team has focused on stability from the beginning and has decided to field KL Rahul as the opener. Delhi Capitals will begin their campaign on April 1 against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium. The team’s first home match will be against Mumbai Indians on 4th April. Now it will be interesting to see whether KL Rahul’s opening changes the fortunes of Delhi Capitals or not.
