All the franchises have prepared their teams. This time Delhi Capitals will get a new captain. Indian team’s star batsman Jemimah Rodrigues is sure to be made the captain of Delhi Capitals. She will replace Australia’s legendary captain Meg Lanning. Who had led Delhi for the last three seasons.
According to Cricbuzz, Jemimah Rodrigues will be seen captaining Delhi Capitals this season. Delhi Capitals franchise will officially announce the appointment of Jemimah Rodrigues as captain today through social media. The franchise has already hinted at a special reveal on social media.
Meg Lanning released before auction
Before the WPL 2026 auction, Delhi team had released Meg Lanning. After that, Delhi Capitals included many strong players in the auction. After the auction, franchise co-owner Parth Jindal said that only an Indian player will captain this season.
Perth Jindal made it clear that Jemima will captain
During the auction, Delhi included South African captain Laura Woolfart. After which it seemed that Delhi would probably give the responsibility of captaincy to Laura Woolfart. But Jindal clearly said that we would like to keep an Indian as captain. Laura will provide leadership in the dressing room, but we want to go with the Indian captain.
