Delhi CM Rekha Gupta’s attack on AAP, loan and deficit issue

CM Rekha Gupta launched a scathing attack on AAP in Delhi Assembly. Citing loans, high interest and incomplete projects of the last 10 years, he said that the previous government had worsened the financial condition of the capital.

New Delhi: During the budget discussion in Delhi Assembly, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta fiercely attacked the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He alleged that in the last 10 years, AAP left only loans, losses and incomplete projects for Delhi. Further, he said that the former government had plunged the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and the Delhi Jal Board into huge losses.

The Chief Minister said that AAP had worsened the financial condition of Delhi in the last decade. He said that instead of working for Delhi, AAP increased the burden of loan and interest. Along with this, the development of the capital was hampered due to incomplete projects and pending liabilities.

Relief in petrol and diesel

Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the CM said that amid the global war and rising oil prices, reducing excise duty on petrol and diesel proved to be a big relief for the public. He stressed that his government is not running in panic but with planning.

While discussing road development, Rekha Gupta took a dig at the opposition. He said that instead of sitting in the House and giving suggestions, the opposition is sitting on the streets, while their government is building better roads for the people of Delhi.

AAP accused of loan and interest

The Chief Minister said that the AAP government took a loan of about Rs 47,000 crore in the last 10 years and had to pay 9 percent interest on it. In contrast, his government took loans at a lower interest rate of 7.4 percent. He said that AAP had left the liability of Rs 3,700 crore of expressway, Rs 2,700 crore of Metro, which was paid by his government.

CM said that it is not important to just take the loan, but paying the interest on it is more important. AAP’s pending liabilities had become a burden on Delhi’s finances.

Incomplete projects and pending payments

Rekha Gupta said that AAP had left hospitals and schools incomplete. Apart from this, outstanding amounts of EWS quota, players’ payments, Rs 250 crore of Barapula project and Rs 48 crore of EV policy were also outstanding. He informed that the outstanding payment for Gaushalas and Jai Bhim Yojana has also now been released by his government.

The CM said that the incomplete projects and pending payments of the previous government were major hindrances in the development of the capital. He stressed that his government is rectifying it and paying all the dues.

Financial position of DTC and Water Board

Rekha Gupta pointed out that AAP plunged DTC into losses of Rs 99,000 crore and Delhi Jal Board into losses of Rs 91,000 crore. He alleged that the previous government did not put any stop to increasing these deficits further.

The CM said that his government is working to improve the financial condition of these institutions and reduce the losses. All necessary steps are being taken for this.

Sharp attack on Kejriwal

In his most scathing attack, the CM called Arvind Kejriwal ‘TB’ for Delhi. He said that Kejriwal was so clingy to the lungs of Delhi that he was not allowing the city to flourish. Rekha Gupta stressed that her government is working to improve Delhi and bring it on the right path of development.

Emphasis on development and education in the budget

CM described his budget as the biggest capital expenditure till date. He said that his government will not just provide free facilities but will ensure real development of Delhi. The highest budget has been allocated to the education department.

Rekha Gupta questioned AAP’s education model. He said that during his rule the number of children in schools continuously decreased. A scheme to provide bicycles to girls to prevent them from school dropouts has been announced, but AAP is trying to turn it into cheap politics.
