Delhi: Cheating of Rs 24 crore on the pretext of huge profits through investment, cyber fraud gang busted

Delhi Police has busted an online investment gang and arrested five people. An official gave this information on Friday. Police officials said that these gangs used to cheat people of crores of rupees through fake groups and fake ‘trading’ apps. He said that so far money transactions worth about Rs 24 crore have been detected.

Transferred money to six banks

DCP (Crime Branch) Aditya Gautam said that in the first case, the complainant was defrauded to the tune of Rs 31.45 lakh by luring him into a group and persuading him to install a fake investment app called ‘Cventura’. He said the victim was induced to transfer money to six different bank accounts by promising high profits. However, after demanding profit money, the group disappeared and the app also became inactive.

Inducted into ‘VIP 10 Stock Sharing Group’ group

In the second case, the complainant joined a group called ‘VIP 10 Stock Sharing Group’ in July and was induced to invest through another fake app called ‘Verger’, he said. Police said the victim transferred Rs 47.15 lakh multiple times to nine different bank accounts before the group and the app suddenly shut down.

Raids in Hisar, Panchkula, Haryana

During the investigation, the police conducted raids in Hisar and Panchkula in Haryana and arrested Mohit, who allegedly opened a bank account in his wife’s name and handed over the account information to his associate. Police took action in both the cases and arrested Rajiv, Monu Kumar, Mohit, Balwan and Rajbir Singh. The police is investigating the matter
