Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to grand inaugurate the much awaited ‘Delhi-Dehradun Expressway’ on 14th April. With the commencement of this expressway, the distance between Delhi and Dehradun will be reduced to just 2.5 to 3 hours. Due to PM’s visit and security reasons, traffic route diversion has been implemented in many parts of Ghaziabad, Baghpat and Meerut, so that there is no obstruction in the program and inconvenience to the general public is minimized. Expressway will pass through these districts of UP, traffic burden will be reduced. A large part of Delhi-Dehradun Expressway passes through Baghpat, Shamli and Saharanpur districts of Uttar Pradesh. The launch of this new route will not only save time, but will also reduce the traffic pressure on the old Delhi-Meerut and Delhi-Saharanpur highways. The expressway is equipped with modern facilities, including Asia’s largest ‘elevated corridor’ for the protection of wildlife. In view of the arrival and inauguration ceremony of PM Modi, Uttar Pradesh Police has made major changes in the traffic system. Entry of heavy vehicles will be restricted on many routes connected to the expressway from the morning of April 14. Vehicles going from Ghaziabad towards Baghpat have been diverted on alternative routes. At the same time, additional forces have also been deployed on the borders of Shamli and Saharanpur. Officials have appealed that passengers should follow the map and advisories issued by the police to avoid inconvenience. Tourism and trade will get a new boost. This expressway will prove to be not just a road but a new lifeline for business relations between Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Now the journey will become much easier for tourists going from Delhi to Haridwar and Dehradun. There is also a plan to develop an industrial corridor along the expressway, which will provide new employment opportunities to the local youth.
