Triple attack of smog, pollution and severe cold in Delhi, AQI remains in severe category

Along with the severe cold, the level of pollution in Delhi-NCR is also very worrying. This morning Delhi is wrapped in a blanket of dense fog. Due to the sudden change in weather, the temperature has dropped and the dangerous level of air quality (AQI) has made it difficult for people to leave their homes. Talking about other cities of NCR, the situation is most serious in Noida, where the air is in ‘very poor’ category with AQI 410 and the temperature remains 22/9°C.

Both Ghaziabad and Greater Noida experienced similar weather, where AQI was recorded at 376. At the same time, the air in Gurgaon is slightly less polluted than other cities with AQI 322. On Friday, 177 flights had to be canceled due to low visibility and more than 500 flights were delayed.

Sudden increase in the severity of cold and icy winds

Now not only the nights but also the days have started getting chilly in Delhi. The icy winds that have been blowing since this morning have made us feel extremely cold. The maximum temperature has dropped by 3 degrees within the last 3-4 days. Now the maximum temperature of Delhi has fallen to 21°C and the minimum temperature to 7°C. IMD has issued orange alert for Saturday and yellow alert for the coming 21-22 December. The direct effect of snowfall on the mountains is now clearly visible in the plains.
