Every year, as Diwali approaches, Delhi starts facing the brunt of pollution. Not only the capital but the entire North India gets affected by it. This year AQI has been recorded beyond 300. In such a situation, Delhi's Environment Minister Gopal Rai has given information in a press conference to stop the increasing pollution. After meeting with various departments, he said that increase in pollution is being seen in Delhi with the change in weather, hence Grape 2 has been imposed.

Gopal Rai said that it has been decided in the meeting today that 6200 additional employees will be deployed for the cleaning work of MCD. Water sprinkling on roads will be increased. He said that water sprinkling will be increased from October 25 to eliminate dust in pollution hot spots.

Private parking charges will be increased, so that private vehicles come less. Metro trips will be increased. DTC buses will be scheduled to arrive at the bus stop in 15 minutes. Be it government departments or private employees, all will provide heaters to their employees for night duty.

He said that additional traffic police personnel will be deployed to control the traffic. Delhi government is writing letters to the governments of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh etc. that they should not send diesel buses to Delhi right now. Pollution control will be done at four levels

“The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has set four levels to control pollution. Currently, the Air Quality Index (AQI) is above 300, due to which GREP Phase II has been implemented,” he said. The minister said that a meeting was held in which measures were prepared to implement the necessary restrictions.

He said, “Water sprinkling will be increased. Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will deploy 6,200 employees for this purpose. We have directed to increase water sprinkling on pollution hotspots. MCD has been directed to start it from October 25. Has been given.”
