Delhi government will provide assistance of Rs 40 thousand, exemption from many taxes; CM Rekha Gupta told the complete plan on EV vehicle

Rekha Gupta government of Delhi has implemented Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2026 in the capital. This new policy has become effective from 1 July 2026 and will remain in force till 31 March 2030. The government says that the objective of this policy is to promote electric vehicles and strengthen the clean and sustainable transportation system in the capital. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the government is fully prepared to implement the new EV policy effectively. He said that the infrastructure required for this is being expanded rapidly, so that electric vehicle users can get better facilities. According to the Chief Minister, the government is working on a plan to develop charging infrastructure on a large scale in the capital. A target has been set to increase the number of currently existing around 9 thousand charging points to 32 thousand in the next few years.

The Chief Minister has said that the success of the new EV Policy 2026 largely depends on the development of charging infrastructure and the government is fully prepared for it. He assured that there will be no shortage of charging points for electric vehicle drivers in the capital. Although most people charge their electric vehicles at home, it is also important to have adequate charging stations available in public places. For this purpose, the government will provide incentives to agencies and investors creating charging infrastructure. Rekha Gupta said that at present there are about 9 thousand charging points in Delhi, which has been targeted to be increased to 32 thousand in the next few years. Under this, charging stations will be installed on a large scale in residential societies and public places. I assure the people of Delhi that there will be no problem with charging points. There will be no shortage of land for this. The new EV policy was being worked on continuously for the last one year.

EV Bike buy But Will meet Many Economic Benefit: : Chief Minister Line Gupta

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the government has given various economic incentives to make electric vehicles (EVs) more affordable and attractive for the common people. The success of EV adoption depends not just on subsidies, but also on how quickly and easily the benefits reach consumers. Eligible consumers purchasing EV bikes will get a subsidy of up to Rs 30,000. If the old vehicle is scrapped, an additional scrapping incentive of Rs 10,000 will also be given. Apart from this, road tax and registration fee will be completely waived off, which will significantly reduce the total purchase cost. Application for incentive amount has to be made within 30 days of issuance of RC of the vehicle. The government aims to reach the beneficiary’s bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) within 60 days of the application. The Chief Minister said that due to these facilities people are rapidly adopting electric vehicles.

Delhi government’s new electric vehicle (EV) policy aims to promote clean transportation and reduce pollution. Under this, all registered electric cars with showroom price up to Rs 30 lakh will be given complete exemption in road tax and registration fees, which will reduce the initial cost of buyers. As per the policy, only electric three-wheelers will be newly registered in Delhi from January 1, 2027. At the same time, registration of new petrol and CNG two-wheelers will be stopped in a phased manner and from April 1, 2028, only electric two-wheelers will be registered in the capital. Apart from this, a provision has been made to provide subsidy to those purchasing electric two-wheelers in a phased manner. Subsidy will be available up to Rs 30,000 in the first year, Rs 20,000 in the second year and Rs 10,000 in the third year. The government believes that these incentives will increase the pace of adoption of electric vehicles and strengthen the clean and sustainable transportation system in Delhi.
